I have two solo exhibitions in Nagoya this October, so I am working every day. Last year, I was in charge of the cover painting for Musica Nova, which led me to hold an exhibition at Menicon ANNEX, which will also include a piano concert. The exhibition will mainly feature the cover art of Musica Nova. A workshop will be held as well (details to be announced as soon as they are finalized). This is the last cover art for MusicaNova, and for the December issue we have chosen “Fir Tree” by Sibelius. In Scandinavia, the fir tree is a symbol of eternal life. The reason for this is that the fir tree is considered to be a place where souls come and go and where life and death intersect. Coincidentally, the cover of the January issue, on which I began working for Musica Nova, features an Amarantine, which means “eternal flower”. The November issue of Musica Nova is now available. The image music for this issue is for Elise, composed by Beethoven. The identity of Elise is still unidentified, and the song is full of mystery, but if you know even a little bit of its background, the sadness of this song is doubled. Where is Elise for me now and what is she doing?　LOL!

Today, September 20, the October issue of Musica Nova is on sale. The image in this issue is one of a collection of Spanish dances called Andaluza by Granados. It is said to be the most famous one. Actually, this piece was originally selected as the August image, but we could not produce it because we could not come up with the right image. However, while working on the cover art for the August issue, the image suddenly came to me and I started sketching it at the same time.SEE DETAILS

I have been assigned to do the cover art for the quarterly magazine of Hamamatsu Arts & Creation, Hamamatsu Foundation for Cultural Promotion. The theme of this year’s cover is “Progress”. Unusually for me, it has a Japanese taste.
