The January issue

It’s been late, but
Happy new year I hope this year brings you happiness!

By the way, I am in charge of the cover image of the music magazine “Musica Nova”. “Magazine for learning, teaching and enjoying the piano” Musica Nova was first published in 1970. How wonderful it is to be able to decorate the cover of such a famous historical magazine!
I’d like to decorate all the covers with new works, but the schedule is quite difficult, so I will announce it with existing works and new works. Of course, new work is first show, so please look forward to it.
The January issue has already been sold at musical instrument stores nationwide. I would appreciate it if you could take it if you have the opportunity.

What was given by God Ⅱ

We held an exhibition named Three Cows at the end of August. An emergency declaration was issued for COVID-19, and I was worried if it could be held, but it was able to be held safely. The exhibition was very well received and was blessed with over 430 visitors. Fortunately, some of my works left for our customers. Thanks to my friends, I was able to reproduce the exhibition in 3D. Please see it. <Link>
I’m making a new work now. It’s hard because I have to finish making it by Christmas. But I really enjoy making it. I’m a little busy now because I have a new name order, but I would like to increase the number of works steadily. I want to do a solo exhibition in Germany somehow! I will do my best! !!

Shortly after I finished pasting, I started to work on the details, but there was something I didn’t like. It’s quite difficult, but I decided to fix it. As a result, it worked, but I was very nervous. Because if I make a mistake, I could start all over again.

The changed part is here.
First of all, carefully peel off the parts I don’t like.
At this point, the result is highly dependent.
Lightly paste the cut parts on the new paper to be pasted.
Next, cut it freehand along the shape. Draw on my past experience but it is so tough. Because I can rely only thickness a piece of paper. If it shifts even a hair width, it’s over.
Paste the cut parts together. This parts has glue so I can’t fail.
It’s done!

I’ve finally finished pasting colors on all screens. I’m about to start putting colored paper on the details. The whole process changes depending on which part you start the fine detail work, so I’m quite worried.

The process leading up to here

First of all, paste the face and horn’s part.
After that, this time I will stick colored paper from the neck part.
I layer the colors little by little while looking at the overall balance.
I’ve finished pasting this far and can finally take a break.
After this, paste new papers to the face and horn.

It took a day and a half to finally complete the groundwork. B1 (728 x 1,030 mm) size is very difficult to paste. The reason is that it is easy to wrinkle and there are gaps in the bonding area. Because of the tension, I take a break every time I finish pasting one color.

I will trace the original sketch and draw it based on it. I do the tracing manually, so it always shifts. So, in anticipation of that, we have to get closer to the original sketch. This groundwork greatly affects the quality of the work, so it is very nerve-wracking.

It’s unusual for me to publish part of the process. Lol ( ^_^ 😉
Draw and erase, draw and erase repeatedly. In the era when personal computers became mainstream, I drew directly on full-scale paper in this way to complete the sketch. Once you have decided on the general composition, rewrite this multi-layered gland into a single thin line. By the way, at this point, the color composition is almost complete in my head. It is useless to draw a fine pattern, so I will not draw it at all. This work is scheduled to be released in Hamamatsu City in August this year.

Last year was a year when we ware at the mercy of COVID-19. I hope this turmoil will subside and peaceful days will come back.
How did you all spend the holiday season?

By the way, this year is the year of Ox. According to the story, this idea of the zodiac seems to exist not only in Japan but also in other countries around the world. The animals are a little different, but they are almost the same. I’m not saying it’s named after the year of Ox, but in August of this year, he will hold a group exhibition in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, with the theme of “cow”. I will be at the venue all day during the exhibition. Please come and visit us. Let’s make this year a happy year too!!

From December 3rd to November 8th next year, a Taiwan-Japan paper-cutting exchange exhibition will be held at the Museum (Soulangh Cultural Park) (蕭壠文化園區) in Tainan City, Taiwan. If true, I would have been in Taiwan at this time, but I gave up traveling because of COVID-19. I was planning to attend the opening of the exhibition and hold a workshop, but I couldn’t do that either. I’m really sorry. However, the exhibition period is one year. If there are signs that COVID-19 has converged and it has become easier to travel, I would like to travel for about two weeks. If you have family and friends in Taiwan, we would appreciate it if you could introduce them and have a look.

I’m very exciting!! Because this exhibition was broadcast on TV and my work was widely introduced.

Suddenly, I will be attending an exhibition in Kyoto from the 19th of this month. For this exhibition, FELLINI GALLERY, the organizer, found my work on the Internet. FELLINI GALLERY consulted me on the 2nd of this month. I was quite surprised because the offer was so sudden, but I listened to the story and decided to participate.

Place:FELLINI Gallery
78-3 Shinmarutamachi, Kyoto, Japan zip 606-8386
Date:Nov. 19. 2020 ~ Jan. 18. 2021
http://www.fellinigallery.com/ja/
Tel:075-762-5575

It’s a corona vortex exhibition, so I can’t stay at the venue all day, but I think I have to go on the first day. Since I participated in a sudden exhibition, there are no new works, but it is almost the first time to exhibit in the Kansai area, so I would appreciate it if you could come and see it. Please forgive that the names on the site are different. (When will they fix it ?: lol)
